Never Play Blackjack at Jacks
I have a Jacks quite close to my QTH. They have some pretty soft, good Poker games. However, you don't want to be playing anything else there, especially not Blackjack.
It's bad enough: the eight deck shoes and the continuous shufflers that render the game all but unbeatable. That's pretty much SOP these days. What Jacks is doing is inexcusable. There is not one game to be found below a $25 minimum that pays 3 : 2 for Blackjacks, the payout is 6 : 5.
The 6 : 5 payout for Blackjacks got started as a way to increase the house edge for those rare single deck games, as if that were necessary in the first place, between early shuffles and the general bad play of recreational gamblers who are clueless about Basic Strategy. Even though Basic was introduced back in 1962 to the general public after Edward O. Thorpe published the first edition of Beat the Dealer, most of the folks sitting at Blackjack tables know nothing about it. It would be bad enough had this remained with single deck.
You just knew the greedy bastards would cut the payout at the multideck games as well. Why wouldn't they? All the Blackjack tables were filled, with players hanging around, waiting for an open seat. These fools never realized how they were getting ripped off.
Don't support this larceny. See a Blackjack table with 6 : 5: run, don't walk.
