That blog thing I do... (38 weeks)

Mar 30, 2009 15:42

okay, so I didn't do this yesterday. Yesterday I was in pain, which went into contractions... which went away when I went for a walk, then I was peeved. So yeah, no writing...

After last week's labour scare over the weekend I have gotten sceptical of anything remotely contraction like. Good job really as I get the odd one or two of unholy strength and then none at all. Great, just great. On the icky side I have been having 'bloody shows'/losing mucus plug all week. If you don't know what that is, good for you, its gross and you don't wanna know.

Anyway, points of note for this week. Saw my Obstetrician on Wednesday. A fine man of Indian, possibly Pakistani origin, but damn is he gooood! I explain what happened at the weekend, the concern about the size of the baby and all this. It turns out that the upside from my admission the previous weekend was the urgent blood tests taken. Its picked up that I am now mildly aneamic, and my, while balanced, diet cannot keep up with baby's demands any longer. And as birth will make me bleed, whoo, iron tablets time! But he gets me on the couch for an examine and has a thorough feel around. 'Hmmm, does not feel like big baby to me, feels fine'. He gets his tape measure out. Sure enough I am only measuring 2 weeks ahead now and within normal tolerances. I breathe a sigh of relief. But I explain my growth scan is booked for Friday and he says go along anyway, it can't hurt to be sure. But feeling much better I go home.

Friday comes, and off I toddle for my scan. The spoilsports wouldn't let me have any pictures, or give me a sneak peek at his face, but hell there is no doubting the gender of this babe! She had to freeze the picture to measure his thigh bone and the shot she chose, where he's sat that with his legs wide open. he's definitely a boy, either that or babe is very talented with the umbilicle cord! But the results. Hes bog average for head circumference, body circumference, thigh length... completely where he should be. His estimated weight at 40 weeks is 8 to 8.5 lbs. And those estimations are usually on the heavy side. As for me, my fluid levels are completely normal. Me looking huge is purely down to me being a short arse. Now that I can handle.

Saturday... Saturday is not pregnancy related, Saturday is garden related, and follows on from my trip down the garden centre on Thursday to get out of the house and do something with my day. Hubby and I go down the garden centre for one tool. Never happens that way now does it. Thursday I came back with the only courgette (zucchini) plants they have (six) as if I don't buy them when I see them, we won't be able to get them for months! By the time we leave and I have finished potting up so they can live and come on indoors (I was elbow deep in compost saturday) my kitchen mantlepiece has 6 courgettes, 18 cabbages, and five broccoli plants on it, all snug. Not to mention the four broccoli plants on the pantry windowsill because I ran out of room on the mantle, so they are next to the mushroom farm. Oh and then there are the three tomato plants and the two peppers in the old hearth in front of the boiler in great big planters, and will most likely always live inside... I keep hearing the theme tune to Day of the Triffids....

Hubby has dug out the bed for the onions and garlics to be planted into, so that's the next job on the list, then he has to dig out a home for the rest of the veggies... I have a veritable allotment beginning in my garden.

But anyway, I keep getting bigger so without further ado, here are probably some of the last belly pics I will post seeing as baby will be here within the next four weeks, by hook or by crook damnit (my Obstetrician has set me an appointment for April 15th which we hope not to use, to discuss an induction date which we hope I do not need to have, which will most likely be the 22nd April. The end IS in sight, I just want him to come naturally the little monster!).
