When it comes to video game movies I usual am filled with dread or a sense of cheesiness when the trailer or similar comes out. When the Dungeon Siege trailer came out I thought it was a parody until I read the title and that it was directed by Uwe Bowl (spelling?). I thought the Hitman trailer was slightly more classy but was low content and still felt like a trailer that was trying to be a trailer. It moved almost exactly like one of those fake trailers from the beginning of Tropic Thunder (one of that movie's highlights).
Now we come to Max Payne. I think that Mark Wahlberg mumbles a bit too much in the opening monologue but I can't help but get the feeling that this movie will actually be good... as far as video game movies are concerned. I was a fan of the original game and I can see a few spots where they pulled from the game and they were good spots too. The stuff they added about angels in the trailer is probably to replace the crappy platforming segments of the original game dealing with the antagonist drug that was prevalent in the game. Oh, and there is a scene of bullet time in the trailer. Cliche now but vital to the Max Payne experience. Coming out in October. I might just have to see it!
