So Tulsa, right?
I contemplated not even writing a review and posting pictures, buy I have time before I go to work today so I might as well just do it. And its going to be kind of lengthy, so I apologize.
I was so late getting everything together on Friday. I don't know how I managed to get everything done. And as Carly, Kim and Kim's mom can attest to, I forgot just about everything. Carly and I got to Manchester around 3 and waited outside for Kim and her mom.
After they got there, we all waited around the airport until we boarded. I was having mini panic attacks about this flight on the plane. lol Little did I know we'd have a little ~*drama*~ on the plane. On the way to Chicago, a passenger in front of Carly started shaking, or at least what looked like shaking from where we were. The girl sitting next to him asked the flight attendents for water and through it all over him (how that was supposed to help a man who looked like he was seizuring I DONT EVEN KNOW). Kim's mom is a nurse and she ran up there. Then the flight attendent pushed Kim and I into the kitchen. She was kind Enter away message text here.of a douchebag the entire flight. However, after Kim's mom saved the day, we were the first to get snacks and drinks! The guy turned out to be ok and the rest of the flight we ok. Everyone (except me) watched The Office. I worked on the hardest Anatomy & Physiology test ever.
We got to Ohare airport in Chicago and IT. WAS. HUGE. It was like a city within a city. Bizarre. Our layover wasn't very long so we didn't get to see much. We ate lunch (I had McDonalds.... I know, SHOCKING) and then got ready to board. Apparently, we got bumped right up to ~*celeb status*~ because we got to talk outside and up the stairs into our little private jet. lololol I'm exaggerating, BUT WHATEVER. I was terrified at the time, but afterwards, it was kind of neat. We met some other fans on the flight to Tulsa and realized we weren't the only freaks going to Tulsa.... for a band.
We waited outside the airport with the disgusting bugs for what seened like hours. The shuttle finally came and took us to our hotel, which turned out to be really freaking awesome! It had a huge atrium in the middle and the rooms wrapped all the way around. The ceiling I think was glass so it made you feel like you were outside when you weren't. The was a big fountain in the middle, with palm trees and umbrella covered tables around it. Pretty amazing. The room was just as awesome. We had a living room, a small kitchen/dinette and a bedroom WITH TWO DOORS INTO THE BATHROOM OMG?
We were all exhausted but we ended up going on an adventure to meet some other fans. And I got to dance like a pregnant Flamenco dancer on the third floor of the hotel. We didn't get to bed until probably 3 o'clock and we were up at 7 the next morning. Terrible.
They had a complimentary breakfast downstairs so we went there before we headed downtown. The breakfast was pretty decent, for being complimentary. They had toast (WHICH WAS UNBELIEVABLE, LET ME TELLYOU), bagels, fruits, eggs, homefries, bacon, omelettes, pastries.
After breakfast, we played outside the hotel while we waited for Leo, our taxi driver. He had no idea where he was going and for a minute, I really thought we were going to get lost in Tulsa. We got to the Blank Slate around 10:30 and got in line. There weren't too many people, but there were still a decent number ahead of us. We originally intended on going to the 3 o'clock show, but Kim had really good feelings about the 6 o'clock one. So, I agreed, even though I didn't really want to go to that show. But, more on that decision later.
We hung out all day in the humid heat. There were random dust storms that covered us in dirt and sand and a really obnoxious train that rolled buy every 45 minutes. I pretty much hated life all day. Then we found out about Dwelling Spaces. There was a shop across the street that sold I <3 Tulsa shirts and whatnot so of course, we had to check it out. Carly and I went over first and picked out some tshirts. I picked out a purple I <3 Tulsa shirt and Carly got a black one. The girl who worked there was so adorable and so sweet! She told us how Mr. Hanson and Zac and Isaac (it could have been Taylor and Zac, Taylor and Isaac, I don't really remember) came in the day before and bought some stuff. She thought they were all adorable and loved all the business she was getting! lol She had an amazing Southern accent that I wanted, too.
A little while after that, Jessica, Avery and their ~*posse*~ showed up and they unloaded the band. Poor Jessica kept getting locked out lol Avery WAS DRIVING. DRIVING. OMG. I REMEMBER WHEN SHE WAS LIKE, 6! That pretty much made me realize that has been 10 years. Not even going to lie about it, I was disappointed when I didn't see Natalie.
The rest of the day is kind of blur. I know we waited, and waited, and sat, and waited, bought mini glass Coke bottles and laughed at Taylor's tight white jeans, and hear rumors of Zac riding his bike, but that's about all I remember until the first show finally started... late, as usual.
The 3pm show didn't start until 4 and Auna showed up around then. I was so happy to finally meet her! She's awesome, everyone should hang out with Auna. She brings you Taco Beuno! We ended up getting a good spot in line for the "6pm" show. We were close to the front and we knew everyone around us had been there since we were or before. Like any Hanson show, people decided to cut in line. Whatever, its over, I got a better seat and I'm ok with it. Then we ordered DOMINOS and it was amazing. We ate it on the sidewalk lol
People came out of the second show and even though I'm sure they loved it, it didn't seem all that exciting to them. I started getting a little upset because I felt like it was going to be a waste of time, energy and money. I was wrong.
We waited for another 2 hours until they finally let us in around 8. Carly and I got separated from everyone but ended up with an amazing seat sitting on the floor in front of Zac's drums. The people around us told us that we had the perfect view of him and Taylor, and Isaac was going to have his back to us but that he was still really close. Micah (ahhahahahahahah idk why but I find him so attractive) came out and was the MC for the night lol He told us all the rules (no screaming, don't sing too loud, NO CAMERAS, NO CELL PHONES, look excited, have fun, but don't be our usually obnoxious loud selves).
I need to take a minute to discuss Ashley Greyson. I don't thin I've ever met a more annoying, obnoxious an in my life. I'm sure he means well, but something about him bothers me. After Micah left he was fixing something with his camera near myself and Carly. Then he started giggling and pointing out to someone how "OMG SHIA LEBOUF OR MAYBE JACK GROBAN ARE HERE!!!!" as he was referring to a fan. It was lol inducing.
And then came Hanson. They came out, and Zac looked beautiful. I sound like a teenie but I really don't care. He's beautiful in person. He was wearing skinny jeans a grey striped shirt. Isaac had this casual dress up thing going on that I haven't decided if I like yet and CHIPPING BLACK NAIL POLISH. Taylor looked a fool, like always, with tight white pants, ugly black boots and some kind of ridiculous shirt, I'm sure. I don't even remember.
Before the first song, they told us how we were the only people in the world who actually understand this song and just how deep it actually is. I wanted to cry. It seriously hit something in me and I was emotional the rest of the show. They started with "Mmmbop" and it was a really good version. I don't remember the exact order, but I do remember most of the songs that they sang; "Where's The Love" "Look At You" "YEARBOOK" "LUCY" "MADELINE" "A Minute Without You" "I Will Come To You" "Weird" and .... "Man From Milwaukee" They were hilarious the entire time.
Zac decided that he wanted to "explain" where "Man From Milwaukee" came from. He started with "Mil a walk kay" is Algonquin for The Great Land (or something?) and ended up going in a circle about it. But it actually almost made sense when he was done. He got out his little megaphone thing and the momma bird and baby bird thing. Eveyrone cheered and loved it, obvi. Zac sang "LUCY" which was so amazing. It was slowly and he dragged out all the "Lucy's" Normally I hate that song, but I fell in love with this version.
I have absolutely NO idea how they got on the subject of country music, but they did. Their little country accents came back for a few minutes and Isaac started playing something on his guitar. He sad something like "You know whats country? THIS is country" Everyone was quiet for a minute until we realized what he was playing. "I lost my wife today, IN THE ROAD" and from that point on, everyone was in a WEIRD, ODD MOOD, even Hanson. Zac made fun of our giggling fits and Taylor said he wasn't drunk enough to play "Boomerang." We were disappointed, clearly. The end of the show came and they told us that they had to replay "Yearbook" and "Weird" Imagine our disappointment.
After that they talked about "Great Divide" and Africa. I repeated Ngi Ne Themba in my head. AND THEN CAME THE REALLY AMAZING/REALLY ANNOYING PART. They sang "SOMETHING GOING ROUND" and I wanted to cry. I love that song, but who doesn't? Taylor starting mouthing something to Zac and Isaac. Zac was nodding yes, as was Taylor. "Been There Before? Yeah? Right....?" And then Isaac had to go and be the jackass and say "NO WERE DONE KTHNXBYE" That mother fucker. I will never forgive him.
When it ended a bunch of people took pictures in front of Zac's drums while we waited. Everyone got their group pics. Kim has a pretty amazing Wooly Mammoth story about her mom, but I'll let her tell it. Even though I was mad at him, I told Isaac that I thought the show was amazing and shook his hand. I didn't say hello to Taylor and Zac. I kind of got nervous and walked away to buy some merch lol
After the show we all waited outside for Auna's mom to bring us TACO BEUNOOOO and our taxi. I was undeinably amused by Mackenzie the entire time. Can we talk about how CREEPY he is in perosn and how he blatantly STARES at fans when they buy merch? I hate him, but I love him asdjkfasdfd I bought merch from Avery agai, btw. She's really gorgeous in person.
Finally most of the fans left and we were standing on the corner. A few of us were peering inside to see Zac playing the piano. We weren't bothering anyone, we weren't making any noise, we were just watching and listening to it. Joe was standing behind him and was gazing at him thoughtfully. REALLY CREEPY BTW. It was like Zac was giving him a ~*private concert*~ lmao So anyways, as I said, we weren't bothering him. I don't even think Zac realized we were there. BUT QUEEN DOUCHEBAG HERSELF BEX had to come and ruin it all. Kim was videotaping and the ugly whore had to come over and litterall PULL THE CURTAIN over the entire thing. I hate Bex.
We went back to standing on the sidewalk. Kim started having "really good feelings" about the corner so we stood there. A little while later we're just standing there, minding our own business and thinking about the Taco Beuno that we're going to eat later, and we see this person riding his bike towards us. Kim described it has "this massive head floating towards us" Low and behold, it was Zac Hanson. On a bike. With his manbag. He waved and said "Goodnight guys" and rode his little bike back to the Philltower. My life = complete.
The taxi ride home = the worst moment of my life. The cab driver was going 70 around turns WITH HIS WHITE TRASH HOOKER GIRLFRIEND in the middle of the front seat and swerving in and out of lanes. I really thought we were going to die for a while. When we got back to the room, we ate our Taco Beuno (WHICH WAS AMAZING IMHO. Thank you Auna!!!) and went to bed shortly after that.
And so Tulsa was over.
