And so the candle at the corner of the dark room keeps the night alive. It does not take much to keep him from staring into her beautiful eyes; yet, his stare only reaches the surface of what he is looking for. Last night, when he called her to his side, she said, "baby, I’m just too far away." He then crawled back into his bed and compared his relationship with her to the relationship he had with his former love. He remembered how convenient it was to walk down the street and be at the steps of the one who made his heart skip a beat. It seemed surreal to know that in the midst of the night when he rolled over and felt the emptiness beside him he could crawl out his window and seek comfort by her side. He never imagined anything different. Now, as he stared at the picture on top of his television, he could feel the distance creeping through his veins. “But she is so beautiful.” And with that in mind he drifted to sleep where his dreams would give him the comfort of being by her side. On the other part of the town, the young girl moved about her bed in order to find a comfortable position to sleep in. Her chest was tight with tears about the doubts her lover was having, swallowing her desire to burst out, she sang her self a song she had learned in church, and prayed that when she woke up in the morning, everything would be okay. She woke up the next morning waiting to hear the phone ring, but much to her surprise, she did not hear from him all day.
