Scholarships and Schools

I'm back! Alive!

Belhaven College has a really, really phenomenal art program. The professor and head of the art department, Bob, is very charismatic. He looked through my cruddy sketchbook that I had brought just for pleasurable drawing, NOT AT ALL MEANT TO BE SEEN by people, much less art teachers. He actually liked most of it. He said that I "showed through my sketchbook that I was thinking about the fundamentals and of art and the creative process" and "looked at art as more than a hobby." There were a few critiques, such as being more sure of my sketching lines, but overall he seemed to like it and thought I had potential.

He also said that he'll get me scholarship! money from the art department one way or another. *happy dance*

So now I just have to decide how certain I am that I want to major in art. I figure if I'm 98% certain I want to be an art major, Belhaven has the best art program so far and I should go there.
But (and sadly, there is always a but) it's Mississippi and that's far from home and can be expensive to fly back and forth. Jackson isn't that great of a city either. Plus it'll be humid and hot half of the time that I'll be there.

river country + humid + hot = mosquitoes and frizzy hair = rachel is not very pleased

But, on the other hand, someone is willing to give me scholarship! money after just seeing some of my pathetic doodles from classes (and trust me, some of the art I saw while at Belhaven was pretty awesome) That is something at least, right?
