certain people have been asses to me lately, yet I am still nice to them.

Doormatting is NOT a good thing... I think I'm going to start being an ass too.

Maybe once they see that I am not one to be walked all over, I can be liked as a person and not as someone to poke fun at or just be a complete jerk to. Or maybe if they continue to be like that then I can just stop being friends with them.
