Angelo is a naive boy from the country who is finding himself totally out of his element at the university. He is kind-hearted and eager to please. Angelo manages to befriend Cesare much to his own astonishment, especially as he is much more prone to putting his foot in his mouth than successfully navigating the diplomatic minefield of student life.
Miguel (or Michelotto, as the non-Spanish students call him) de Corella is Cesare's bodyguard and best friend. He was given to Cesare as a servant when they were both children and their bond is unbreakable. He is loyal to a fault, dangerously talented, and with a difficult background of his own. Basically, I adore Miguel and if you app him I will love you so hard.
Right now I think those are the only two other appable characters. But if you read, you get to see Niccoló Machiavelli, Christopher Columbus, Leonardo da Vinci, and more fine historical gents and ladies!
I'm very impressed with how the series treads the line between history and fiction. While there are certainly some parts that cross over into wtf lol that never happened, the general story is aces in my opinion. I really appreciate the attempt at historical accuracy! Regardless of whether or not that's a big deal for you, I recommend giving this a shot. There's not very much in English, so it doesn't take long to get through. (If nothing else, read the second half of chapter 16 through 19--that was what really sold me on this.)
I uploaded the scanlations I have of the series. I divided them up by chapter to make for quick dl'ing, so that's 25 chapters, not 25 books. I think it ended up being part way through the third book. Not too much to read through!
Chapter 9 is about Cesare's father and Chapter 25 is about his sister. The rest of them focus on either Angelo or Cesare.
