OH RIGHT, ZHORES HEADCANON.

Zhores is kind of a dick, but this really only applies to things like Cesare triggering his dickishness, like acting like Work is something that's optional (because well. Cesare is still an Aristocrat, and so OF COURSE he's going to shirk his duties /Zhores' mindset). The fact that Cesare tries to weasel his way out of things is really like setting a injured mouse in front of a cat, it never ends well. It does two things, 1) makes him seem like less of an innocent, and thus fair game, and 2) activates that drive in Zhores to dominate and control and make people beg for mercy. There's nobody he loves messing with more than people who think they can't be taken down about five notches. When Cesare's doing a thing or trying to get out of work, Zhores will be on his ass all the time, using whatever means possible to drag his ass back into place. (and enjoying the hell out of it.)

When that, for a lack of better word, prey drive isn't being twigged he's actually a reasonable boss, more than quite willing to have a chat or to take on more work if something comes up. Cesare will also pick up that he more or less shows three sides. The first is a polite and helpful side that he mainly shows to guests (or if Cesare remembers, when they first talked about religion), the second is a bit more casual and honest, but he still handles situations with a general coldness and detachment. The third he only really showed during the thread with Shaun, a Unsafe smiling, downright manipulative, and completely sadistic personality. The thing is that he lies like Cesare does, IE all the time and by using the truth, the only difference is that he's been at it longer. All of that is part of him, but really only people who know him better get to see how it works.

So yes, expect him to take Cesare to task whenever he's been a brat or slacked off, be polite with the guests, all too glad to talk and be moderately friendly when Cesare hasn't been a douche (though never revealing anything about his family), and adorable and topped by kids during reading circle. Also sometimes Rika comes in and he takes his lunch break to go and talk with her outside the library, because he's honest and himself around her and he figures leaving that a mystery must annoy the piss out of an infohound like Cesare.
