i saw andrew bird last night, at the beautiful music hall in portsmouth. since my decision to attend was last minute (as of monday i had been trying to find someone to go with for a few weeks, with no success. finally i decided to just go alone), i thought that my seat was going to offer a less-than-spectacular vantage point. however, i was wrong. probably every seat in the music hall is a great one. so i sort of regretted leaving my camera in the car. but then again, i sort of regret bringing my camera whenever i do because i don't want to be stuck behind it, taking pictures. i don't want to be any further removed. so i was only mildly disappointed that i would have no photos.

more importantly! andrew bird's set was lovely. it included sovay, why?, a nervous tic motion of the head to the left, plasticities, skin, is my, spare-ohs, anon animal, natural disaster, tables and chairs, action/adventure, some of these days, jesus gonna make up my dyin' bed, trimmed and burning, and the water jet cilice. he was charismatic and charming and humble and oh so funny and dramatic and cute. plus he took his shoes off about one minute into the show and i love when that happens. i think probably everyone must have left smiling. he is so impressive and talented. i heard more than one person ask how so much music could come from one person.

videos. yes.
