I’m like you Supernatural owns me heart and soul and I can’t just watch it and enjoy it, I angst over it and fret for the characters and when they hurt I ache inside. But I accept TVD flaws and all and so I can just watch and enjoy. I’ve just been so worried over the whole Sam soul issue that I haven’t been able to enjoy it as much because my heart is too heavy.
At first I watched TVD for the pretty because it is a very attractive show but then it improved and became plot driven and much more exciting but and I’ll admit I began to ache a little for Damon and found myself fighting his corner and wanting good things for him.
I didn’t watch Lost and my first introduction to Ian Somerhalder was Smallville but I was too blinded by Michael Rosenbaum at the time to really *see* other characters even Jason Teague so he passed me by until TVD and even then I thought he was just another pretty face but like you the more I learn about him the more impressed I am by his humanity and ability to care about the world we live in and the animals we share it with.
And I love his portrayal of Damon because like Dean he drew me in with the bad boy vibe but as time went on we got glimpses of his emotions which made his character richer and more believable and essential if we’re to connect with his character, to care for his character to give him emotional depth and complexity.
The word emotion derives from the Latin emovere, which translates as: to excite, to move, to stir or to agitate and Damon does all that and more as does Dean.
I’m almost scared at just how much respect and admiration I’ve garnered for Ian Somerhalder the more I learn the harder I fall.
But yes Jensen is safe and there’s room in my heart for more than one love and Ian’s personality and his ability to be humane just draws people to him and I’m like a moth to the flame.

Word!. Damon is the character I can connect to and I know this is going to get worse and I am going to wish him something good but I will hurt because he is the tormented, tortured, doomed one. I so want to see that smile a little bit often!!!
I didn't watch Smalville, just the irst season and then the fourth because of Jensen so I had no idea Ian was there too, but like you said the more I learn about him the more impressed I am by his humanity and ability to care about the world we live in and the animals we share it with. .
I will reply properly to your email asap, sharing my thoughts on his way to be with ans and people around him.

You just read my mind honey. Ian nails it :)

I’m almost scared at just how much respect and admiration I’ve garnered for Ian Somerhalder the more I learn the harder I fall. Again, I am with you. We are in love and we don't have to be scared of it. We have to embrace it because this ability to feel passions is what makes us good persons, it's what allows us to enjoy of the little things this life gives us. I think we should consider us lucky for this. Ian just fuels the fire, being awesome as he is :)
Yes he is the tortured one and I'd love to see him smile a genuine smile not a sarcastic one but alas he is doomed to be the one to shoulder the pain.
I was scared about loving someone else other than Jensen but now I realise Ian is such a good person that he deserves to be loved and I'm ready to embrace it :)
