Rikku took a deep breath and stepped across the hall to Alec's doorway. And for the hundredth time, was grateful that Professor Skywalker had taken most of this off her shoulders. If she had to have this conversation with complete strangers, over and over again ...
"Yeah, sure, Rikku," he said, flashing a grin at her in greeting. "Hey, those primers were awesome, by the way. Or should I say 'druca bnesanc fana yfacusa -- cu ruf'c so Al Bhed huf?'"
Rikku's eyes lit up excitedly. "Whoa! Dude! Oui ryja hu etay ruf luum ed ec du rayn Al Bhed ykyeh! Ed'c paah ykac! Ev oui ajan fyhd maccuhc fa cruimt dudymmo ryhk uid, E zicd seccehk cbaygehk ed!"
"Maccuhc fuimt pa luum!" he said, practically beaming. "Cu fryd fyc ed oui fyhdat y sehida vun, un tet oui zicd ku bcolrel yht cittahmo ghuf E ys yfacusa yht haatat du rayn vun ouincamv?"
""E's dudymmo vnaa ev oui fyhd maccuhc! Dryd fuimt pa cu knayd!" she grinned. "And you're totally awesome but, uh, that's ... not what I needed a minute for. It was kinda something ... bad."
"I, uh, I kinda need to talk to cheer today. But I wanted to talk to you first 'cause I don't know how well you, uh." She bit her lip hesitantly. "It's about Hamlet."
"He went home last week, to ... there's a whole mess, with his family, his uncle killed his dad and vengeance and ..." She bit her lip and stilled for a moment, then looked up. "He's dead."
Alec's eyes widened and he stared a moment. "What happened?" he managed finally, voice lower in deference to her grief. Not that he wasn't upset at all, but it obviously had hit her very hard.
"Some kind of a duel, with poison on the blades. His friend told me. I didn't ... he was shaken up and so was I and ... I don't know all of it. I wanted ..." Rikku closed her eyes for a long breath before opening them again. "I d-don't know how well you knew him, I mean, we were all in the mutiny but I didn't know some of you. And ... and cheer should know. I mean. I'd want to, if it were s-someone else."
"He was a cheerleader," Alec said, frowning slightly as he watched her compose herself. "I didn't know him really well, but we're all in this squard together, right?"
She shivered and knocked quickly on the door.

She looked at him. "Do you ... would that be okay? For me to tell them? I'm not sure how everyone's gonna take it but ... yeah."
