home from scotland
i dont even know where to begin to say how great last week was. i was in dundee, scotland and had some of the best times ever. it's so amazing how you can become so close to a group of people within a week. i must admit i was a little nervous about it all before i went. i was friends with a couple of the people from forest park going, but only knew of krista and caitlin and was an "aquaintence" with alli and had no idea who any of the scottish people were. once we got to the airport in scotland it felt a little strange because those scottish people that came to greet us had met everyone else but me. i then got dropped off at jennie's house..the girl who i stayed with. we got to know each other for a bit, then went into town and got some lunch with all the others. again, it was kinda strange not knowing anyone, but it didn't last for much longer. that night we went over to dawn's house and all hung out. the rest of the week was a blast..everyone got so close and it made it so hard to say goodbye at the end. here's a bit of what went on:
monday: lunch then dawn's - pam sprained her ankle while jumping on the trampoline, we had a million wrestling matches, learned that parents offer everyone alcohol (drinking age was 18..i was legal), played twister, and chilled.
tuesday: school - so different from ours..seems a lot more chill and a lot smaller. followed around a 5th year (like our juniors) and talked to her and a couple people in her classes and also spoke with their principle. then we went to suzy's where we broke her bench cuz about 7 people were on it when it'd normally fit 3 and where 4 people slept in her tiny kitchen so no one could walk thru. then was barry's - drunk people(not me), people getting "extra close", kissing game, layin around on the floor, cheese fries (chips and cheese), lots of fun
wednesday: edinburgh - ate and had a romantic lunch with suzy, walked around the city, taught krista irish dance in the streets, shopped.
then westie and fat sams - westie is west port bar..got some drinks and chilled for a while, then headed to fattys (club)..got drunk and had some fun..and yes there was pulling.
thursday: royal highlad show - sat in a food tent with jennie, caitlin, and alli for a long time and tried lots of different foods (yummm), walked around and saw lots of cows, sheep, and horses. did an obstacle course with billy (one of the scottish guys) and i beat him :o) even tho the people running the thing held him back so i'd win haha. then at night we headed to the westie again to watch craig's band play..he'll be famous one day..for sure.
friday: monikie - did a ropes course which invovled some obstacle things that all required team work, and also climbed a really tall skinny pole with a very small platform on top which had to fit three people on it. then we would eventually all lean back as far as we could before jumping off (SO scary! but quite fun) then went canoing where we ran into some army guys in a boat and raced them to land..we won :o) and they were also splashing my canoe with water. then missytacey, dawn and i went in their boat and they took us for a ride. also had a bbq and snack..alli, caitlin, krista and i had an apple eating contest to see who could bite off the most apple in one bite..i think i almost broke my jaw during that. fun day. at night we went to the westie again..i tried some new stuff with caitlin which led us both to get drunk, then we all went to fat sam's again where i had more and found some free food! no pulling this time tho! :oP
saturday: slept in!!!! went to caroline's and chilled..played football, soccer, pet her horses, layed around, ate food. then went out to dinner (tea) and got a really good meal and sticky toffee pudding for dessert. then we all headed to pam's house where some people drank and the rest of us chilled..some played catch with the many condoms that missy and pam blew up as balloons or filled up with water :-O got home late and stayed up talking with jennie even later
sunday: got up early and headed to the airport..said goodbye and flew home. flight was good. sat next to jon and alli on the way to london..didnt sleep cuz steve and matt were kinda preventing me from doin that :oP then the flight from london to dulles went well. sat by krista and missy..that was quite hilarious..never had such good times on an airplane before. also watched hitch and a bit of meet the fockers.
oh, and here's a lovely story:
we took a walk on the pavement to find a bin to throw away something from the yellow topshop when all of the sudden we heard greensleeves. "what's christmas?" whilst looking for the bin we also saw pac-man and heard banana-rama. we laughed so hard that we had to take a wee and sat on a wooden bench afterwards. wait, "is that made out of wood?" while sitting on this bench we saw people pulling and going out for tea. also found out that spain was in south america, we get to a place faster due to changes in time zones, and the time zone changes from scotland to london although london is pretty much directly below scotland, all the while continuously saying "shu-up you fanny!!" ooorrr "shup in the shop!" what proper fun!
ahh good timessss. i miss those scottish people sooo much already. i actually talked to caroline for a couple of hours today and we want to follow up on krista's idea of getting a beach house next summer for a reunion. her daddy already said he'd fly her over here. that'd be tiigghhttt.
mmmk, well got stuff to do around the house the next couple days, then headin off to tennessee for nationals..where i'm gonna SUCKKKKK cuz i havent practiced these past two weeks. but oh well!
i also have hundreds of pictures to upload from these last two weeks :o)
