Hey people,
Since my last update I finished the book Flow. The book was interesting, but at times I felt like I had to push myself to read it. It basically talked a lot about getting invested in an activity and that is when we find ourselves in flow.
Then, I read One Day. I never had heard of the book until I saw commercials for the movie version of it. I thought the movie looked good and when I heard it was based on a book I decided to read it. The book was cute and I enjoyed reading an actual novel. I liked the overall style it was written in and how it reflected Emma's and Dexter's life from one day each year.
Now, I am reading Shopping Our Way To Safety. A professor I had in winter and spring quarter wrote the book. He is interested in environmental sociology which I am also interested in learning about. He mentioned the book to our class in the winter, but I had plenty of other reading to do at the time and I was taking a class on environmental sociology with a focus on poverty and development. Then, in spring my professor talked more about the book and I knew I wanted to get it, but I still had a stack of books on my bookshelf that I wanted to read. Plus, I didn't really have the money to keep spending on books, especially when I already had so many. Now that it is summer I have read the books that were stacked in a pile at my dorm and I have moved on. I now have started accumulating a new pile... I think I have 5 or 6 more books after this... and I have a list on amazon too. Yikes. I'm liking the book so far and it even mentioned some events that I have read previously about for another class. I might also recommend this book to a friend who is interested in environmental studies too.
I have been doing more than reading though. I still am going to the gym. I also have gone on a few trips - one day to Palo Alto and Half Moon Bay. In HMB I tried this awesome artichoke pesto bread that was incredibly tasty. Then, last week on Thursday I spent the day in Santa Cruz.
I also started selling a few books on Amazon. Within the week I sold three books which was great because if I had sold them to amazon I wouldn't have earned much, but this way I earned a little extra cash to pay for the textbooks that I will have to get at school or new books for fun to read.
Last week I got back my last two rolls of film. I went and got the film developed myself instead of having to wait a long time with giving it to my dad. It took about 2 weeks and a day to get it back. I also got three rolls of film back from my dad a few days before which was good too. When I got the film back I had met my dad in San Francisco and we got food at bistro farms where I made a salad with tons of strawberries. He also gave me three new books which are part of my reading pile now.
oh! I also got a new pair of shoes. They are similar to Toms shoes, but not that brand. I was excited to get them. I got them in a gray color and if I like how they fit especially after I wear them a bunch, then I might get them in other colors.
Overall, I have been pretty busy with things, but at the same time not that busy. Life will be a little bit more relaxing for the last couple of weeks of summer. I don't have any major plans. I do need to start getting my stuff together though and figuring out what to bring and whatnot.
I am excited to go back to school to have my routine and get away from things, but at the same time I know I am going to be extremely busy once again and will start getting up at 6:30 everyday again.
