Wow, I most definitely had the weirdest/most frustrating religious conversation ever today. So, I'm naive, and believed the guy when he said that he was genuinely interested. For the next 4 hours or so, he kept spouting off really rude and offensive comments about the Church. I kept trying to keep with him, but it got to the point where I could tell that he was simply not listening/did not care at all. Apparently, he has made it his "goal" in life to have at least one "friend" from each religion, like Pokemon or something, "Gotta catch 'em all!" But, in the meantime, he blasts all the other religions to me and then tells me about how whacked out mine is. He was referred to me by a friend of mine. He had apparently been wanting to talk to a Mormon, and, well, lucky me. I was the only one she knew. Luckily, Mike was around to help me with explaining a couple things. It was just ... a complete waste of time. By the end of it all, when I told him that I was leaving, he says, "You know, I'm don't really care about Mormonism. I'm just always curious why people live their lives the way that they do." Greaaaat! I could've told you that in about five minutes! I get tired of being told that I have a closed mind, when all the people who ever tell me that are doing it as part of their plan to tell me that my ways and my beliefs are wrong. I don't blame Kaitlin. She didn't know what all this was going to entail. I don't think so at least. It doesn't matter either way. It was just really offensive to hear some of those things from someone that knew absolutely nothing about me going into it. Whateverrr. It's over. I'm contemplating blocking him to avoid further contact, but I always have a hang up about blocking people. I feel mean/bad doing it. So, we'll see what happens. I just do not want someone to come out and bash and ridicule me on a regular basis for no reason other than their own enjoyment.
On a positive note, [my day really was not bad by the way. That whole situation was just frustrating, but it ruined nothing] we went to a little awards ceremony for my little brother. He is way too cute, cute, cute! He won an award for one of his drawings for our town's bi-centennial ... 1st place! ;] He got his artistic talent from me, of course. Haaa! Seth ran around afterwards and found one of those machines with the little claw that you catch toys in. He kept running up and pointing and giggling, so this doll of a lady, who was an owner of the place, came over and gave him a little stuffed Scooby Doo in a bunny suit for Easter. It is adorable! I thought that she was just letting him play with it, but she gave it to him. ♥
I also got my dad his birthday presents tonight; well, all except for a card. When we were leaving the awards thingy, I watched him walk down the sidewalk to get the car and glance into the window of a music store, where he stood for a few minutes, pressed up against the glass a little, and just admired all the guitars. That man is sooo cute! The reason why he doesn't have a guitar of his own now is because he sold his 12-string and electric several years back so that we could have food for the month. Then, about a year or so ago, there was a younger boy at his church who was learning guitar, so he let him borrow his bass and his acoustic. Well, after awhile, he decided that he just wanted to give the kid the guitars: the only ones he had left, which he had growing up, had learned on, and had played in his band. Mannn. My dad is so selfless and such a perfect example of charity. Anyway! I tell this entire story, because I don't believe that I've mentioned it in here that my sister and I are getting summer jobs to save up to get him a vintage Rickenbacker bass guitar. They go for around $1,600, but we've managed to find one for $1,000. Of course, we haven't bought it, yet ... no money there, so I'm just hoping that it stays that way until the end of the summer. Why a Rickenbacker? It is my dad's DREAM guitar. Why are we doing this? Because we love him death, and, well, why not? Bethany and I have just really wanted to do something special for him for a long time, and when I mentioned my desire to do it, she had had an identical idea, so we just merged them. Hey, I won't complain about sharing the cost! ;] I have no money to afford the thing. That is why I am getting the summer job.
Oh, and Renee! You made me hungry for pita sandwiches, blast you! ;P We ended up having steak wraps for supper. But, they were so gooood! ;] It's been awhile since I've actually had steak. It's been awhile since I've actually been able to afford steak, but it was on sale this week! ;P
Well, it's going to be a crazy weekend, as usual! Bethany's coming home, but there's so much to do that I honestly don't know how much/if I'll get to see her. :[ Summer's close ... just not close enough.
Love you allllll!
