So yesterday I forgot to gloat about how well Homie's been doing. I've been riding him for 45 minutes on the flat with a twisted wire snaffle and an elastic training fork and then I swap his bridle for his competition bridle - a 3x3 lifter and take him outside to school on the barrels for about an hour. My biggest thing has been staying out of his way and trusting him. So I've been pretty much working the barrels point-and-shoot - just face him towards the barrels and let him go. He's been AMAZING. It isn't until the fifth or six run that he starts to cheat and suck up barrels. I'm also working really hard on staying low in the saddle. When we went to the Open Worlds last year, my trainer watched all of the top riders - Dusty Gilder, Sue Bologna, Mike Berbich and saw that they weren't neccessarily following the textbook instruction to stay forward on the straight aways and sit deep during the turn, they were staying forward the whole way around. Dusty looks like a ragdoll on his horse and practically lays on its neck through the turns. Billy always told me that he's never had anyone as talented as me around and that he knows that I could be a top rider one day and maybe I should try doing what the top dogs were doing - it obviously works. I'm not laying down on my horses, but I am working on staying low and really working through the turns.

I think that's it... IDK I'll post more later if I think of anything else.
