It's 9 A.M. Saturday after the slam, and I'm still up. Typical, I suppose.
Great slam, great fun, great friends, great feature by Lindsay Stone.
Dropped Lindsay off at the Birmingham bus station at 6:15 this morning amidst S.W.A.T. teams storming the building and running all over in the streets. Most unexpected. They directed Lindsay to wait across the street at City Hall with other passengers until the situation was "safe." Still don't know what was happening! I'll call Lindsay later, see what she found out.
Kirk's been doing awesome video work for poets lately, giving them DVD's of their performances. Many have offered to pay us, offered to have us come officially to their venues for the purpose of being paid for DVD's by all the poet's there, and our feature from last month, Soul, sent us a big check for the one Kirk is working on from his feature. We also plan to sell slams from particular dates and/or compilations. Also making poet videos, but keeping those details a little hush hush for the moment.
All this is under the new division of New Dawn Unlimited called Pandemonium Productions. It's for CD's and DVD's and Videos. (Oh My!) It's Kirk's baby, and he's already invested countless hours! I suppose it's no wonder folks want to send him money for his hard work. I'm so proud, BG.
We filmed our little video promo tag that will go at the end of all our CD's/DVD's/Vids
at the slam last night. It was fun, everyone screaming, yelling, going crazy, jumping around, banging drums and other noisy things, etc! I can't wait to see how it turns out!
Working on publishing, mostly. Been invited to do some big out-of-town features, always wanted to, but insecure. But, oh yeah, I adopted the "Fuck It Forty" philosophy on my last birthday, so I'm gonna go do some! Fuck it! (See.)
I'm still really uncomfortable on this LJ concept, but I'm working on it. I actually had almost forgotten the aforementioned philosophy during a particularly cold autumn, but I have just now recalled it during the previous paragraph. Coincidence?
Gonna go for now, but maybe I'll write... from now on.
