Where: Oakland (for those of you who think that's far away, it's really not so bad, especially if you carpool)

When: December 7-9 and 14-16 (shows Friday 7:30 PM, Saturday and Sunday 1 and 5 PM)

How: Tickets are $15-$50 at http://www.calrevels.org/ or via the box office: (510) 452-8800

Why:
1) Beautiful, vibrant music and dancing
2) Audience participation - you get to sing and dance too!
3) See me on-stage, in costume, singing and dancing, for the first time in years.  For some of you, the first time ever!
4) Geoff Hoyle, a star of this year's show, is a fantastic comedian and really fun to watch.

The Christmas Revels: A Theatrical Celebration of the Winter Solstice, now in its 22nd year, commemorates the holiday season by bringing a truly unique form of musical theater to the Bay Area in celebration of winter holiday traditions.

The 2007 Christmas Revels features Geoff Hoyle, whose numerous performance credits include The Lion King on Broadway, and featured roles with Berkeley Rep, A.C.T. and Cirque du Soleil.  The show follows a 19th Century "Songcatcher" who wanders the English countryside seeking to collect the songs, dances and village traditions that mark the turning of the year. On his journey, he encounters a variety of rustic characters ranging from churchwardens and farmers to pub keepers, spinsters and even an itinerant music hall performer. They all have bits and pieces of traditional lore to share with him - and us. We will enjoy mumming and Morris dancing, Christmas carols and some of their pub room predecessors, as well as English country dancing, children's street games, storytelling and more.
