Sometimes, I am really busy at my job. And sometimes, Matt & I have absolutely nothing to do. Today is the latter. So, I will update?
Let's see...the past 6 months, right?
Ok, so in May, I moved into the most crap-tacular apartment known to man (oh no, that was Liza...ok, but mine is second.). One roommate was a sociopath to the point where I was concerned that I would return and all of my belongings would be on the street. The other would not do dishes...at all. Like, she'd dirty a ton and then leave for a week. If I didn't do them, the dishes would be an ass-ish smelling pile of death. So, more than once, I ended up washing this girl's putrid dishes. Her habits also attracted mice. These mice were just trying to live, man, so I said, Live and let live and didn't set any traps. Not surprisingly, the mice quickly became my favorite roommates. I named one of them Jerry. He was pretty much a baby, so when he wasn't freaking me out by jumping out of the trashcan every time I came into the kitchen, I thought he was really cute. Oh, and punchline to the "never-did-dishes" roommate...she would trim her pubes over the toilet with an electric shaver and leave the trimmings. Hmmm. Never did I think that I would want to stay at Joe's cesspool of an apartment more than my apartment, but I did. See, I couldn't even talk about it at the time without wanting to burst into tears, but it was an experience...that's for sure. And it is over. The only remnant is the $50 gas bill I was stuck with.
So, in September, I moved in with fucking awesome roommates that I love. Melanie and Stephanie are really fun girls & a dude. Russ is quiet, neat, and keeps to himself pretty much, but lets me borrow his seasons of MASH (HE HAS ALL 10!). We went out for Melanie's bday a couple of weeks ago, and it was so ridiculous...Melanie got kicked out of the bar, Russ got punched in the head by a bouncer at the bar, and Melanie fooled around with a dude...not knowing his name until the morning when by chance, he referred to himself in the third person. So yeah, Stephanie and Melanie are both really sweet and really fun. We all get along so well. It's going to be an amazing year. There will be a lot of beer drinking...a looooot of beer drinking.
Oh yeah, and I guess you could also say that I have 6 more roommates in JP. Joe and I split our time pretty evenly between my apartment and his. Which is excellent. They call me "the eighth roommate," and rather endearingly. They are such an amazing group of people that my faith in Northeastern University has been restored (or maybe even founded). One of them is even a business major!
Let's see, the co-op job is pretty rad. Matt, who is an ultimate duder, is a sweetheart and we definitely keep each other amused. An unlikely friendship, but a functional one nonetheless. He's actually sleeping right now. That happens sometimes. I always hope the boss doesn't come in for his sake. Sometimes, I wake him up.
I am actually excited about my last 2 school years in Boston for the first time in awhile. Good times and great people have shown up in my life, which was still ok for the past 6 months, but there was definitely something missing. I've found it, and find myself having as much fun as when I got to this damn city! Hooray! I won't be too torn up about leaving, but until then, I will be absolutely loving it. I mean, Joe and I have been together for over 20 months, and it still seems like we just started dating. It's so fun to have someone to explore with or get in trouble with or lounge with...the list goes on. Ahhh, I am so excited!
Shino tonight. Then, a laid back night, most likely. Talk to you folks later.
Love, Katie.
