Birth, Secrets, Lies Oh My
Just finished Birth Secret (출생의 비밀) and I really liked it. In the drama, Sung Yu-Ri plays a girl with a genius IQ who grew up poor, then discovers her biological father is a genius professor from a very wealthy family full of secrets and lies. Yes, she's a secret daughter lol. She gets caught up in the intrigues swirling around and attempts suicide, at which point she meets a good for nothing ajushhi who is also trying to jump off the same cliff but convinces her to live with him for a year instead of dying. A year later, she gives birth to their daughter and suddenly one day wakes up with amnesia and can't remember the past ten years of her life from age 17 to 27. Thinking she's 17 again, she returns to her family and her past life. Missing her, the husband sets out to find and win her back. Old secrets and lies get unraveled before the happily ever afters. ^^
Ahh, I've loved Sung Yu-Ri and Lee Jin (who plays her best friend) from their K-pop Fin.K.L. days...miss them so much! It was a real treat to see the other members make cameo appearances too!
Anyways, back on topic lol. Both are surprisingly competent actresses. The young actress who plays the daughter Hae-Deum is such delightfully charming cutie pie! But the outstanding performance was definitely the actress who played Sung Yu-Ri's character as a young girl, Kim So Hyun...I look forward to seeing more of her in future dramas. All in all, an enjoyable KDrama with beautiful songs, especially Frozen Heart (얼음심장) by Choi Joon Young, such a poignantly sad melody.
