Lifetime's Look at "How the Other Half Lives"

Last night I couldn't sleep and wanted something to put me in a 'vegetative state'...so no book, just Reality TV.  The show? Millionaire Shoppers.  I had to shut it off because my blood pressure was going up.  These people have closets the size of my HOME and are too Lazy to go buy their own 10K dresses and are so self-centered and obnoxious to the hired 'shoppers'....while children go hungry &/or live in cars with their parents, while animal shelters close due to lack of funds, while the elderly and mentally ill go without medication because they can't afford it.  One of the women had 3 MILLION Dollars worth of SHOES.  Another had a COLLECTION of $10,000+ handbags.  One shopper even said, "She has a 50K pair of shoes--for most people that's a HOUSE!"  Yes, it is...and how many are living with their kids on the streets and dumping their pets in shelters because they have NO WHERE to go while these over-paid sports stars and CEO's throw tantrums because their 14K Berkin Bag is the wrong color?  I'm not saying GIVE AWAY your money...but there are many wonderful charities out there and instead of buying a $20,000 purse made out of a dead alligator, maybe you could donate to St. Jude's Hospital for children with cancer, or the local soup kitchen, or an animal rescue, or Habitat for Humanity...
How does anyone justify charging or paying that much for a freaking purse?
I think these people need to be visited by Marley's Ghost--"Mankind was my business!"
Maybe it's just me, but I could never feel comfortable living that extravagant. Cold day in HELL before I spent that much money on a bag, shoes or dress***.  I'm just not made that way.  When I had surplus money--meaning we were comfortable living modestly--we donated the surplus to CHARITY.

Maybe there's something wrong with  ME...but I'm more proud of saving a buck than Wasting one and find more joy in giving than in pampering myself to exorbitant extremes.

**My most expensive pair of shoes is a $250 pair of boots that I bought for $65.  They are comfortable and Wonderful, but I did NOT pay full price.  Charlie's work boots were $250--he is standing on cement in them for 10-15 hours per day so yes, we do pay more for the better shoe. However, we refuse to pay more than that.  A $1,000 pair of shoes best come with a Johnny Depp look alike to massage my feet every time I take them off!  The price you pay for shoes or a purse, IMHO, should not equal (or be more than) an average person's mortgage payment.

rants, television, say what?, pieces of me
