YES, my husband and I are both Cheese Whores. Cheese is a grocery **Staple**. ALL meals include Cheese...one way or another.
What boggles me is the "Shredder Devout".
When ethanol became popular for fuel, the price of dairy went up. Corn that used to be sold cheap to diary farmers was now being sold to gas companies for a better profit...thus it required a higher cost to feed the cows and the dairy products all but completely vanished from the "Dollar Sales".
OK.
Own a business. Profit is NOT a "bad word". Supply vs. Demand. Got it.
Now back to those who apparently LOVE their cheese graters...
I bought 7 ounces of BRICK cheese for $1.33. I bought EIGHT ounces of already shredded ready to GO cheese for....
$1.33.
HELLO? More cheese, same price. PLUS, I didn't have to waste MY time shredding it....NOR did I have to spend money/resources heating the water to wash the cheese grater, PLUS the TIME to wash the cheese grater. To give them SOME credit, the already SLICED cheese was only six ounces for the same price. However, If I am cooking with cheese, I really don't care if it's sliced or shredded...I only care about my bottom line.
BOTTOM LINE...stop and do the math before you decide you are saving money by putting more work into something than you actually have to. YOU got ripped off!!!
BTW: You CAN freeze cheese. Once in a while I still find it on the dollar sales (8oz shredded) and I FREEZE it....even at $1.33 that's a pretty good price vs. "regular price".
