More Addie ramblings

You know, I'm probably just reading WAY too much into Addie's Present at this point, but I swear that game has some psychological merit to it. (: Seriously, I'm convinced now that the characters Addie meets in her weird little dream town represent various aspects of her psyche, and the way they interact with one another shows a tremendous insight ( Read more... )

Addie no Okurimono is 3D, sadly, but it's some of the more stylishly-drawn 3D I've seen on the PS1. The music is good, but limited - there are only maybe 5 different songs that play throughout the game, and most of them are just standard RPG fare, with only a handful of standout tracks (one of them being the title screen theme, which is gorgeous!).

And yes, I am indeed that very same Wyrdwad! I doubt I'll be writing reviews of any of those three games, however, as I never did finish those. They're all pretty good, but they're greatly overshadowed by Love-de-Lic's other works IMHO. Of the three, L.O.L. is probably the coolest, as it just has a really unbeatable atmosphere, and an absolutely amazing soundtrack composed by Japanese new-age artist Ryuichi Sakamoto.

Endonesia is pretty cool too, but VERY unforgiving. You can die in that game SOOOOO easily... kinda like Chulip in that regard, but much worse, and ultimately more frustrating! I think the food meter is what really does it...

And UFO... I dunno, I wasn't a huge fan of UFO. It's certainly unique, but I had a lot of trouble getting into it.

Always good to hear from a fan of Love-de-Lic's games, though (even if you just really like what you've heard about them, I think that counts!). (:
