Darn you, cloud cover!
So, that was the "almost total" partial eclipse I didn't get to see. Instead it just looked like we were about to get some snow or maybe a thunderstorm, but no, we don't even get that. I hope there weren't too many disappointed school kids first thing this morning, especially in the north of Scotland where they were expecting 98% coverage. I know when I was young it was a "thing" to make viewing apparatus in the days leading up to any sort of eclipse.
