I'm the only English major on either side of my family, which was kind of disappointing until I remembered that nearly everyone else on my mother's side is in some sort of science field. This is absolutely awesome while I write "Not With a Bang," my sci-fi story. What happens when character A gets shot in area B? Call up the sister and father. Is this kind of computer stuff possible? Call up my brother or Uncle D. Question about guns? Call up my other Uncle D. If only I had a geneticist or someone in robotics, I could have every possible resource I needed a phone call away.

Speaking of other Uncle D. He also got a deer this year, an 8-point. Oh, happy days! Will there be venison at the family Giftmas? I can only hope.

Good news on the school front. I was worried about my poli sci class, especially since I failed my second exam. So, I asked my prof if I'm even going to pass and as long as I get at 67% or better, I'll pass for sure. It's rather embarrassing that my exam scores were so low, but as I explained to my prof, it's been at least a year since I've had an objective test; everything else has been papers and more papers. Though, she did say that that explained why my test scores were abysmal but my paper was very good (I got a B+ which I thought was bad, so I wonder just how poor my classmates' papers were).

Also, my prof efficiently squashed any last faith I had in humanity. We briefly discussed my paper, which was on the mourning dove thing (prop 3 I think) and I remarked how it was the only prop that held my attention without sending me into a seething rage and she brought up the Affirmative Action prop (2?) as well as comments my classmates made. Comments such as something like, "This is good because now whites can attend good schools and blacks can attend schools that are better fit for their mentality" and "Women can't be engineers or architects because their brains are smaller than men's brains and therefore are inferior." There were other comments too, but just typing that out makes me feel ill again.

You know those "[sardonic message] --God" bilboards you see everywhere? I really, really need an icon with the one that says "Dear Humanity, Quit it. --God" or something to that affect.

not procrastinating!, writing, school
