So I've been thinking of taking up weaving and spinning. I've been crafting a lot lately and I think that's because if I'm not totally focused on something, I'm going to stress about work or classes or something else. It's my quiet moment of meditation.

There's a weaving center in Dallas that offers classes on weaving and spinning. One of my coworkers spins already, so I think that I will try to teach myself and if that doesn't work, I can probably ask her for help. I want instructions on weaving though. I have a small loom set that's good for small pieces, but a floor loom (or a table loom or an inkle loom) is an entirely different creature. It's not cheap, but it's not expensive either: $120 gives you five three-hour sessions, which is apparently just enough time to finish a scarf. I think I can afford that and I can probably find the time to do that. The only problem is after I finish, I will want to buy a loom and I just don't have the space right now.

I should never have gone to that yarn show a couple weeks back.
