There is one good thing to come out of the Watchmen movie. At least people are reading the book. JM's husband is a big comic reader and she was asking about the book (which I haven't figured out a short, concise explanation yet; it's either "a deconstruction of masked crime fighters" or a long, rambling explanation). When she went to put it on hold for him, we found that there are nearly fifty holds on twenty-two copies. That's pretty impressive for a comic book.
I've been playing Fable II a lot lately, off an on since it came out last month, and I still haven't beaten it. But then, I'm taking my good sweet time and seeing how many achievements I can earn before I beat it. Not to mention seeing how evil I can be. I'm shooting for Pure and Evil, though it'd be really easy to go Corrupt and Evil. I'm playing the female character, which only matters if you want lesbians and straight men to pay attention to you. Alos, you get crossbows or guns for ranged weapons; no bows. The guns are pretty sweet. You can find pistols, rifles or (one, I think) shotgun, depending on what your style is. I stick with my clockwork rifle because I can fire six shots, have a speed loader and can take out most of my enemies before they even reach me. Spoilers for the game behind the cut.
It's much more fun and much more satisfying being evil. Really, all I had to do to get my meter all the way to evil was slaughter Oakfield. That's all. Though, after I went through the Spire (a ten-year stint), I found my glorious fine had up and disappeared. Rats. Now I'll have to find some time to destroy them again. I have to do a truly evil act to get the prize at the Temple of Shadows and I admit that I cheated. Only because I don't want to have to keep marrying people just to sacrifice them (oh, who am I kidding; I'll do it anyway). I cheated and peeked at the GameFAQs guide. I should try to find three monks to bring with me. Hrm. I probably should have done this before the Spire and the Temple of Light fell into ruin. Now I have to find three monks.
My favorite side quest so far has been tracking down the remains of Lady Gray. You remember her from the first game, right? Well, after you find all three pieces, you bring them back to the guy who resurrects her and casts a love spell on her. If you say, she falls in love with you; if you go, she falls in love with the necromancer. I stayed because I'm an evil bitch. And because an undead girlfriend isn't enough, I married her and moved her into my wagon at the gypsy camp. I have another wife in Bowerstone, so I earned my bigamist achievement. My next spouse is going to be male.
Though I did find one bit of unfairness in the game regarding your gender. There are male and female prostitutes in Bloodstone. The females are fat or thin, but there are only fat, male prostitutes. That I could fine, anyway. Not only that, but even though I had condoms in my inventory, I couldn't choose protected sex with two other women (I really wanted my swingers achievement), so I had to risk an STD because the game's still male-biased.
