Just a ramble on a whim . NOVEMBER edition. TLDR need not continue.

*rambles*

I keep thinking.... I'm going to MFF. I wasn't planning on it to begin with but thanks to my company's new policy about not being able to carry over vacation days, I need to use what I have left or they will forfeit. There's no way I'm giving those turds my hard earned days. If they had let us know about this earlier in the year, I could of done some damage with those days. I could of stayed longer at a place out of town. Could of gone camping with a roo. Could of done a ton of things. But now I have to use them for something that gives me the best bang for the buck. I wanted to go to MFF next year. I could of saved up some more money. I would of had two new suits (maybe...because you know how suit builders can be and expected dates). But I'm grinning and bearing the fact that this is the best thing I can do with my days off.

With that in mind, I'm shuffling things around and getting stuff packed. I'll leave Ranger Home this time. I don't think I got him out last year anyway. I'll make stop at a friends place in Terre Haute IN Tuesday Night. Then I'll drive up to the hotel Wed. afternoon. Last year was my first time driving to that con. It was cumulatively over 16 hours between two days of driving. about 12 to IN and then 4 more up to the hotel. The land out there in those northerly states were so boring. I'm drooling from brainless boredom thinking about them already. I did have a few audio books to listen to that year. I think I was working on the second and third Hitch hikers guide to the galaxy books. Man that author most of been on Some nice drugs by the third book. This year I have some books I'm unfamiliar with but I think I'll start with the Dragon Riders of Pern. I listened to about 3 hours of the first book when I went to the Renaissance festival last weekend. I'm sorta hooked, but when they are setting up the politics and stuff .. It's so fugging boring.

I'm now looking at the weather from SC up to IL. This Thanksgiving weekend, it's looking kinda nasty. I have a good feeling it'll clear up nicely by the time I start on the road Tuesday. I plan to take the Ford Five Hundred. I have a decent Subaru Outback that would be much safer in inclement weather. But I would prefer if the Roo had new tires. The ones I have on there now are on their 3rd year and have an imbalance that didn't get fixed the last time I had it at the shop. That's not a deal breaker if the weather looks like It'll be bad. My mom has already started giving me the stink-eye about going. Weather and those riots right now. She doesn't give me any fits about any other con travels. Not AC, MP, Dragon Con... but my travels up to IL has her and her sister giving me a stern finger pointing. I head the warning in that I go with a sense of caution.

This car topic comes up because... I still wonder about the fun of driving in questionable weather in a capable car. The ford .... *laughs* yea right. Whatever. But It does have really good tires on it and it's fine for the most part. I guess regardless of the weather, I need to enjoy this trip. It's unlikely I'll give up MP, AC, or DC to go to MFF next year. I have 10 vacation days ONLY, to take next year. Unless I start taking attendance points to conserve a few vacation days, It's gonna be tight. It takes a whole calendar year to get a point back and the 9th one will have them walking you out the door. I've got far too many bills to consider risking that kind of thing

Ok. I've rambled enough.

OH and ... My Renaissance festival photos are here. https://www.flickr.com/photos/98762415@N06/albums/72157659150152224

If you choose to look around after that, just look. I do tweet a heck of a lot more photos than I do here these days. Horribly easier to do there.
