Last weekend I took the Subaru wagon over to my brother's house to get him to help me take the back wheel off and some other parts. The issue is that every time I take a right hand turn, I can hear scraping sounds coming from the back driver's wheel. I don't know if it's a bearing/hub starting to go and allowing things to fall out of perfect alignment and tight tolerance parts to rub together. Or alternatively, It might just be build up of rust and other stuff allowing things to rub on a dust shield that has been said to have a habit of annoying other owners.
Brother didn't have the right attachments for the impact wrench so he wrenched all the bolts off till the last bolt on the Caliper bracket. It slipped off once and he stopped. He said if he tried again, it's likely it would strip the head and becoming further inoperable. So we stopped right there and considered our options. We agreed he would gather the right attachments to try later and I would find some replacement bolts. So far I haven't found the bolts. The dealership and online sources have plenty of the brackets but no bolts are shown. I know know they have to be out there. I don't have one off to compare and just go somewhere and get some.
Well, having failed that operation on the wheel, we got the tire back on and I wanted to play around with the car's AWD and traction control system on his hilly property.
A few of the hills allowed the car to shine brightly. A few things did humble me a little. I wasn't interested in damaging the car so I didn't push it harder than I needed to. After the small hills, I wanted to try my luck around another section of his house. You can see me coming down the hill and then between the section of the house and pond. The problem was that the ground is year round soggy. I got so far and then sunk. That wouldn't of been an issue but the car started sliding down the hill to the pond. When I put it in reverse, it slid even further. Fortunately there was a little cement pad in the ground that the back tire caught and brought it back inline. I figured I'll leave well enough alone on that one and took one more unnecessary challenge. I backed up the slick leafy covered hill I came down earlier. I geek out over the fact the car's system kicked in and started breaking the front tires to transfer power from side to side.
