If anything good came from the WTC tragedy, one thing would be that Americans became more friendly with each other. We suddenly became aware that we all had something in common - we were Americans & we were proud of it. People would make eye contact with strangers that they pass on the street & would greet them.
Unfortunately, it did not last long. We've become a nation that backslid in overcoming our fears - actively going after and attacking things that are different from ourselves physically, ethically, & spiritually.
We forgot how to live and let live.
