So here I am at work the day after Christmas, and I should be working on projects but I have absolutely no desire to do so.... so I figure I may as well update this journal that I've been neglecting for ages.
So as most of you know, I got hitched back in September, and the wedding and reception went off without a hitch. Everyone had an awesome time, and the weather couldn't have been more perfect. We went to Italy for the honeymoon, and it was so beautiful.... I want to go back within the next couple of years and actually stay in a Tuscan villa, rather than in the middle of Rome and Florence, though Florence is a wonderful little city with great culture. Rome was great too, but I felt a bit rushed (this was not helped by the fact that I was sick as a dog in Rome with a head cold, but I toughed it out and drugged myself up so that I could still see the sites)
We're still living in the apartment, but we will hopefully be looking for a home to purchase in the coming year. Yay tens of thousands of dollars of debt! But at the same time, it will be nice to have a house to own, rather than dishing out the money for rent. We have a good chunk of money saved up for a down payment, and some of the money will also be set aside for repairs we'll need to make in the new place. Hopefully this time next year I will be a proud homeowner :)
I got a new Marketing job in October, and am very happy with what I've been doing. There's always parts that you don't like to a job (such as the fee analysis I keep putting off that I need to hammer out something for by Friday), but I am loving doing all the PR stuff. I've started to put together a little portfolio of things I've done so that the next time I go to another job I will have my articles and projects to take with me, since when I left Plymouth I forgot to take those sort of things. My biggest project so far has been writing the first ever Public Relations Plan for the company, and I've been trying to organize the dept. better both with paperwork and the promotional item supply closets. On top of writing press releases, I also am in charge of donation requests, invoices, etc. And in 2008 I'll start doing some event planning! Yay new job that isn't trivial meaningless work :)
Christmas was a blast, and the kids all seemed to love their presents. I got lots of great gifts too (LOVE my leopard print peep toe shoes). I was glad to go home, since the last time I was in NJ was back in November for the sister's NYC marathon run. I was so happy to see everyone (both my family and Mike's), and will be back down in NJ in two weeks for my nephew's birthday party. I'll probably see some of my RU buddies to watch the International Bowl the Rutgers Football team is in, maybe back at a restaurant at the old New Brunswick stomping grounds like Stuff Yer Face. Let's hope they win! RU RAH RAH!
So that's the sorta summarized version of what's been going on in my life. I haven't died. Hopefully I'll update again sooner than I did this time around, but I wouldn't hold your breath.
