I'm posting a couple of pics that I took several weeks ago, back when the trees still had leaves and the sun actually came out.  They're a nice reminder to me that, sometimes, it is beautiful outside.  So I thought I'd share some of the unexpected local sights around here that make taking walks a joy.

It seems the Gulf isn't the only place currently experiencing a oil-related disaster.  We now have one here in Michigan, in the Kalamazoo River.  Apparently, a pipeline developed a leak, possibly as early as last Friday (some people reported smelling oil, though there was no obvious spill yet.)  By Sunday, the company that owned the pipeline was ( Read more... )

Today, I saw my first sign that spring was truly on its way: the very first ice cream truck of the year was out and about.  Forget green grass and singing birds, this is a real sign that winter might be finally over.  Well, that and the fifty degree weather that seems unable to melt the snow on the sidewalks.  *does happy dance*  I'm soooo tired of ( Read more... )

I head on the news the other day that Erin Brockovich - not Julia Roberts, but the real woman - was coming to a town close to me.  This struck me as very cool; it's nice to know that she's still working so hard, and in so many locations.
