Now that I finally seem to have caught up on sleep, and am not suffereing caffeine headaches, I resumed my job hunting today. I started with a couple of temp agencies, which isn't easy because around here, they have a tendency to only be open a few hours at a time. Ah, how I'd forgotten how fun it is to fill out applications when you can't remember dates of jobs you had a few years ago or phone numbers or addresses (at least one no longer exists, so finding the info for it is a challenge.)
The real fun came when one of them had a cognitive test as part of the application process. About 20 questions to be answered in seven minutes that test math and language skills. The window that popped up before I started assured me that most people didn't finish, and that I should just do my best. I still panicked; it's been awhile since I had a timed quiz. However, I answered all the questions well within the limit, and even proved that I at least have basic math skills despite not having used them for awhile. Also, I would like to thank Tenth Doctor fan fics for making it easy to answer the question about the meaning of the word 'garrulous'. :)
When I finished, I eventually wandered over to the comic shop, with the intention of getting just the new IDW Doctor Who comic, the first of the Eleventh Doctor books. Unfortunately, it seems IDW also has a new series of Jurassic Park comics starting up as well, and since dinosaurs are one of my first loves and I'm a JP fangirl, I couldn't leave without at least one of them. It took a huge effort for me to walk away from an X-Files/30 Days of Night crossover I hadn't known about. I promised myself I'd get it as a graphic novel.
After an arduous walk home (icy sidewalks!) that left me sore from twisting my ankles when I slipped or straining my muscles to keep my balance, I decided to treat myself to a pizza today. I'm pleased; I ate even less today than I did last time I had one. I also bought a Mountain Dew, a 20oz. I'll pay for it later, physically, and I do regret it, but having one 20oz a week is infinitely better than a 2-liter a day.
And that's my life at the moment.
