Okay, I'm starting to suspect that I may be cursed when it comes to conventions. Why? Well, I've gone to a grand total of two cons, and have bought tickets to two more, and here are the results:
The Leap Back 2009: This was the Quantum Leap 20th anniversary convention, which I'd been looking forward to for three years. Over those years, guests have signed on and canceled, but no one major. I was really looking forward to this because it was going to have the long awaited reunion of the show's two stars, Scott Bakula (who I have met on six different occasions) and Dean Stockwell, who I was really looking forward to meeting. Shortly before the con, Stockwell cancelled.
TorchSong 2009: Dear God, where do I begin with this one? Four Torchwood guests signed on. Two came. One got injured and left early. So my chance to meet John Barrowman and Kai Owen was an epic failure, and poor Tom Price was in too much pain to do as much as he would have liked.
And now:
Gallifrey One: Peter Davison, the Fifth Doctor, was going to be the main attraction. He was my second Doctor, and I was looking forward to meeting him after I meet my first Doctor this November. He canceled. I really want to scream. I also want to remind the folks at Gallifrey One that one of their guests has a boyfriend who could fill in nicely...
I'm just a little worried about Chicago-TARDIS now. No one has canceled yet, but considering the way my luck is running, it's only a matter of time.
