Under the cut is something I wrote in one of my essays about the ROK-US alliance back when I was in Korea. It walks around a bit and doesn't really head anywhere. It's interesting to see how the future will play out now that Obama has won.
"Therefore, in the lead-up to the upcoming US presidential elections, it is essential to take into account the policies of the two presidential nominees, liberal Barack Obama and conservative John McCain. While both nominees believe that the ROK-US alliance is critical, they have differing views and approaches on the DPRK issue. While Obama is of the opinion that the ROK-US alliance, though strong, has been lacking in direction in recent years, McCain insists that the alliance remains unshakable because of shared interests and values. On the topic of the DPRK, Obama prefers a firm and steady yet flexible course that not only utilises current multilateral structures in place but aims to build up further regional partnerships in Asia. McCain, on the other hand, favours a more hard-line stance towards the DPRK, stating that diplomacy is not the only option, and that the role of regional ties is crucial to resolving the issue. Therefore it is imperative that the current ROK administration is flexible enough to adapt and coordinate its policies in line with the incoming US administration in order to maintain the ROK-US alliance."
In other news, I got the Bluetooth connection to my phone working~ So I transferred a couple of ringtones over. Right now I'm in a nostalgic mood, so I've got Big Bang as my ringtone (like my Korean phone used to have). I'll probably change it to Epik High in the end.
