I love fall. I love the way the air feels and smells. I love the warmth of the day and the chill of the night. I love the leaves and their brilliant deaths. It seems like the entire world begins to slow down and settle in for the approaching winter. It's hard to explain but I feel closer to the world and closer to people this time of year. Visions of high school football games, marching in parades, hayrides, and bundling up to visit family and friends, it all provides a sense of warmth that I'm sure my words don't provide justice to.
Last Saturday I went to the Harvest Festival parade. I hadn't been there since my senior year in high school when I was last in it. It was really nice and really long. Do parades usually last two hours? My high school band was in it. They sounded as bad as they looked, but it brought back a ton of memories. People I hadn't thought about in a long time ...so many great times.
Sonia and I met Tony at the parade. I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned Tony before but he certainly is worth a few lines. Tony is a bartender at a local bar where I've hung out quite a bit. Tony is the guy people imagine when they think of the perfect bartender. He's the guy that you ask for advice, the one that can read the two people hooking up at the bar like a book, he makes you feel like you are the only customer at the bar. He's the type of person that you invite to your house and you spend time at his, he even makes you food when you are moving. Tony is an all around great guy.
