I want to make one of these, but my journal won't let me make a public post since my default is friends only. I guess I can make it public then private again, but that somehow feels like a lot of work *is extremely lazy*

Can you change it for individual posts? I do for the ones I want to make private or friends only. There's a drop-box at the bottom of the posting window that says "Show this entry to". Does it work for you if you're friends only? If not, that's just poor programming. *shakes fist at LJ*

No, the drop box at the bottom is grayed out because I set my journal to friends only. You'd think they would still let you change individual posts, but no. *also shakes fist*
