Tug

I'll be taking Tug down to the CSU Vet Hospital for surgery next week.  Poor dude, he is gimping around big time.  I got some new pain meds to give him along with the anti-inflammatories.  The bad thing about the pain meds is that they just knock him out.

So, I get home Sunday night, Tuesday head BACK down to Ft Collins and will be in the area until Thurs morning when he gets released.  I'll probably see if I can stay with a friend in Cheyenne so I don't have to pop for a motel bill.  I can goof off between there and Ft Fun while waiting for the Tug-meister.

I contacted the breeder about the patellar luxation since the vet says it is a congential matter.  Congenital in the fact that he was born with it, but he might also be the only offspring with the problem.  I figured when you are talking about $1500 to $2000 dogs, this might be some useful information.  They would taking a big chance if they bred the same pair again and have similar problems.  Seems to me that AKC or whomever the dog-breeding police might be would poo-poo that risky activity.

Anyway, he was so nice - I was basically making a courtesy call and he says to me "We'll work out some payment arrangements, that's in our contract".  Hokey smokes was I surprised.  Tug, even though 70 lbs *IS* still a puppy.   So, I have already covered the initial vet exam, x-rays and meds, but he will pay for the surgery.  YAY!  that helps.  Although I was going to do it regardless, had the appointment set - my Tug Boat is irreplaceable and my best friend.  I wish we didn't have to wait until next week, he doesn't complain, but I know he is uncomfortable.  He doesn't care to do much except sit or lie near by me :).
