The Usual Error is going Pro!!
First of all, we want to thank everyone for your support. Some of you have been audience members, some have offered suggestions online, and some of you are helping us plan roadtrips. Many of you have participated in lots of excellent conversations, many of which became items in later versions of the presentation. You guys rock!
We are making big changes! We're really excited about this! The Usual Error is going pro! We want to transition this from our hobby to a part-time job, and maybe eventually to a full-time job if we can figure out how the heck to support ourselves with it.
New sections!
We've totally revamped and reordered the sections. We've clustered them by theme and made them more independent, so there's no longer a sequence; people can attend any of the sections in any order and not worry about having to catch up. The new sections are... *drum roll*
- Communication Dynamics
- Boundaries
- Turning Conflict Into Communication
- Conflict Resolution
- Positivity
Check out
the Usual Error website for details on what topics will be covered in each section. We've also added a few new topics! (:
Going Pro!
As a part-time job, we hope to be making some money from this. We are charging $20/person for each 2-hour session, on a sliding scale that slides all the way down to zero; no one will ever be turned away for lack of funds. We are fiercely anti-shame, so don't worry about anyone looking at you askance for the amount you choose to pay (or not). We promise to put our profits toward causes we think are worthy, including expanding The Usual Error to get this information to more people. We will make our financial records publicly available, so you can see where your money is going.
The most important thing to us is to spread this information widely, and we think we can do that more effectively and reach more people if it can be a part-time job for us.
Two exceptions: we've made tentative plans to visit other cities, so those workshops will be grandfatherly free as previously arranged. And if we get to present at PBF again in 2007 (which we really hope to do!), we certainly won't charge anyone there. (:
New Cool Stuff!
We're getting started on a bunch of other cool stuff related to The Usual Error!
- We'll be writing the first draft of the book form of The Usual Error for NaNoWriMo (we're bending some of the rules, though).
- We're working on a self-work series of presentations called "The Fundamental Error".
- In 2007, we plan on going on a road trip to present to our out-of-state audiences.
- Also in 2007, we'll be holding TheUsualErrorCon - a weekend event in Austin!
We are also hoping to be able to present at places like the
Human Potential Center, and hold larger workshops at centers. We're branching out and up!
Please help us out!
To make our endeavour even more successful, we need your help! Reply here or email us (austintriad at gmail dot com) if:
- You'd like to be on our mailing list, to get notifications of upcoming workshops
- You're out of town (or state) and would like us to put your city (or a nearby one) on our list for potential road trips
- You have any comments, suggestions, or feedback you'd like to share!
Also, please spread the word to any of your friends you think might be interested, and ask them if they'd like to be notified of upcoming workshops.
Thank you so much, and we hope to see many of you at our next batch of workshops, to be scheduled soon!
I love you!
