captive presence

When introverts are stressed, they withdraw. They do this to recharge their batteries, not because they are neurotic. Introverts need time alone to bring order back into their inner world.

Let’s look at some of the things that can stress introverts.

I did remove a few from the list because there were too many factors that could alter the applicability. For example, I do like spontaneity and surprise, but it's generally true that I don't like things to upset my plans, like an unannounced visit.

I would greatly value taking walks if I had a place I felt comfortable taking them. Like you, when I walk around town I feel the presence of too many people and this typically defeats the purpose. I bolded the animal part instead because when I've been captive in (usually unwanted) company for too long they tend to complain that I pay more attention to my cats. I find them very therapeutic, conversely.

My brother is one of the few people I would not feel terribly territorial with, ironically, but that is probably only true since we've grown up and don't see much of each other.

I would rather have doors open as well, closed ones make me feel caged. But I have been utilizing the door as a barrier since I lived with my family, because it was impossible to focus with my parents - especially dad - about. It used to depress me though, feeling trapped like that. Having your room on it's own story would be a big improvement I think. In my earlier years I spent the majority of my time downstairs rather than in my bedroom, and I did usually leave the door open then.

You know, I haven't really watched his other stuff, much though I have heard about them. I suppose this should be my incentive.
