I got my garden started Friday after working 6 hours of OT. I came home, changed into clothes that would cover most of my pasty whiteness and protect me from the sun. The exposed bits got lubed up with sunblock (not as scandalous as you may think.)
So, after about 2 hours I managed to plant sunflowers, tomatoes, a mix of sweet peppers, cucumbers, spaghetti squash, loofah squash (they're edible!!! who knew!?) garlic chives, and zinnias.
My sweetie came by to keep me company for a bit while I was planting. Nope. He didn't help. Nope. I didn't really want or expect him to. He's totally excused since he's been taking care of his lawn & his grampa's lawn & is kinda yard-worked out.
I stopped by today to check on things (the garden is not in my yard. It's a community garden plot behind a church.) Everything looks great. I was afraid my fragile plant babies would have gotten sunburnt over the weekend & frizzled right up. But, they are hanging in there & my cucumbers are already sprouting.
So, maybe this year I'll have something to give to the neighbor who always gives me veggies! That would be neat.
