Updates?

My trip to TX to visit fifthnormal was mostly good with just a light sprinkling of drama. Nothing too serious. We spent an afternoon touring the Dallas Museum of Art. Very nice. It's huge. We spent 4 hours there and didn't get to see everything.

I was introduced to the True Blood HBO series. Very nice. I've read some of the books the show is based on so it was interesting. I love LaFayette.

I spent a good bit of time trying to take pictures of the little blue and green lizard who lives in the covered walkway between the 2 parts of my friend's house. He wouldn't hold still. I think he thought I was going to eat him. Lizards just don't understand.

My new favorite restaurant is Sweet Tomatoes.  Guess where there aren't any?  Ohio!

I flew down and we drove back up to Ohio. 1200 miles is a Very Long Road Trip. We should have either gotten on the road earlier in the day or napped seriously before heading out. Oh well. I guess now I can say I've slept in a car at a rest stop, which is definitely not something I'd done before. Chris wouldn't let me drive. Not one bit. But then, he does know about my automotive narcolepsy (which is really only a problem on long drives. Or short ones... at night. etc.)

Well, I went to traffic court for my accident last week. There's nothing quite like standing in front of a judge to make you feel Totally Submissive & Meek. Even when that's not generally your thing.

He asked me how my driving record was.  I told him I'd gotten a ticket once about 10 years ago for expired plates.  He said that didn't matter.  Then he opened an envelope and pulled out what must, apparently, have been my driving record.  Misc Auto accident, Summit County, 2005.  Auto accident, Portage County, 2004.

Holy crap.  I'd forgotten about those.  I guess I was thinking that since I wasn't cited they didn't count.  I hope he didn't think I was trying to be evasive.  At least it said "Misc Auto accident" instead of "this crazy woman hit a pedestrian."

So, I plead no contest and paid my fines. Hopefully I'll never have to do that again.

So, now I'm gearing up for my annual camping trip.

I'm a little nervous.  I've never camped alone.  Sure, there will be like 800 people at the campground for this festival.  Sure, I probably know at least 50 of them.  But I am driving, setting up, and camping alone.  I don't have a snuggle buddy.

My car is cleaned out and partially packed with gear.  I'm packing light, so far.  It's just going to be me and it's just going to be 4 days.  The real test of "packing light" will come Tuesday night when I'm trying to decide what clothes to bring.

I will resist the urge to pack every piece of clothing and every pair of shoes I own.  I will resist the urge to pack every piece of clothing and every pair of shoes I own.  I will resist the urge to pack every piece of clothing and every pair of shoes I own.  I will resist the urge to pack every piece of clothing and every pair of shoes I own.................

summer, lizard, accident, vacation, updates, omg shoes, friends
