Signal boosting: Scarleteen edition!
I'm pretty sure that some, if not all of you, are familiar with Scarleteen and their wonderful sex and reproductive health advice. If you haven't, let me break it down for you. Scarleeteen provides pretty comprehensive sex education for free and online. For people like me who grew up with abstinence-only sex ed in schools, and only the least detailed of information on my body and how it works, it was a godsend. They do their best to be inclusive to straight people, gay people, genderqueer people, transpeople, asexual people--the list goes on.
I could spend hours and hours praising Scarleteen and all the wonderful things that they've done, but let me come straight to the point. They're currently raising $35,000 for their operating costs for 2012, and they're looking for donations. You can donate at this page, but to sweeten the pot a little, there's currently an auction going on here, where you can bid on fab prizes for the price of your donation.
Suzanne and I have a joint entry here, if you want to bid on something less fannish and more delicious, but I'm sure that there's something for everyone. But please, please consider donating to this wonderful site.
