Collective amnesia or apathy?

Why are we not seeing coverage of the war in Afghanistan? Why aren't we seeing anything about Afghanistan? What are we doing there? Where is the money going that is being spent? What the hell is happening?

I hear people theorize that we are concerned with things at home;the economy, the lack of jobs and the oil spill - well, yeah; that shouldn't mean that we are willing to send our fellow citizens off to war without caring what happens. If that is the case, if we care so little about the outcome of the war then what are we sending our neighbors, our children, our family members out to die for?  Do we even know what our government hopes to accomplish?

I'm just asking because it's been pretty damn hot here in SC, for the last few weeks we've had over 100f with an average heat index of 105; I can barely stand the walk from my air conditioned house to the air conditioned car. I can't imagine walking in fatigues with 50lb packs, and guns wondering if a sniper is going to be around the next bend; wondering if "If I get shot or if I die will anyone give a damn?" You know, I'm not even sure who the hell our military is suppose to be fighting at this point.

Honestly, if our country is going to commit the lives of our young to war, if, while this country is struggling to find financial stability we allow our government to spend billions to build up the country that is maiming and killing those young, the very least we could do is pay attention!

afghanistan, war
