"Sunny and hot" -- for Christmas???

Dec 10, 2007 10:45

It was 81 degrees yesterday. It's December the 10th and it is going to be the same today. I'm finding it a wee bit hard to get into the Christmas spirit while my windows are open and I'm in a t-shirt and jeans. Not complaining though--just an observation.

I broke down and rented Halo 3 this weekend; it was on my Christmas list but I needed something new to play and just finished re-playing 1 & 2 so... My take on the Single Player is that it is graphically stunning, undeniably fun since you have new weapons and vehicles to play with. The grunts are bigger comedians this time around, especially if you chase them a bit before you kill them. The music is awesome, heroic with short bits of piano that do a superb job of setting-up a transitional moment in play and story. You do not play Arbiter at all which didn't bother me since as Master Chief you could wield the plasma sword and had access to the Brutes grav lifts and cloaking devices.  The downside is that single player is short. I finished the game in about 8 hours - not very well mind you, but I am fairly sloppy the first play through since I  like to just get the feel of the game to start. I replayed it again and finished with a much higher score in 6 hours. The plot wasn't much different than 1 or 2 with the exception of the Cortana story thread. I greatly enjoyed playing the game but I can now wait until after Christmas and buy a used copy to own. This means Kenna and Riley have one less game to purchase for their mother's Christmas OR it could mean that I have an empty slot to fill....hmmmm.

I've gotten a lot of Christmas shopping done so I can take a break and work on getting the other aspects of the holidays in order; this weather is 'killing' me though!

christmas, halo 3
