I was just getting myself a cup of coffee and trying to figure what condition my condition is in (yeah yeah yeaaaah) when it occurred to me that it might be possible to give 24 at least a little credit for the willingness of people to accept Barack Obama as a president -- after all there were two black Presidents of the US on that series, though admittedly only one was well-spoken and Truly Manly, whereas the other was kind of nervously twitchy type (and so he should be, considering his story arc over several seasons.)
On the other hand, you can also credit Morgan Freeman, who's played at least a couple of black presidents and might well have been thought to have played quite a few more -- not to mention playing God, and if you can't accept God as a President, then who can you accept? It's entirely possible that people are now associating Barack Obama with God (and some have certainly associated him with a/the Messiah), which is a comforting thought for some, and certainly a better thought than having to put up with the fake God-botherers like McCain and Palin. Now, I don't think we'll be seeing water into wine and loaves into fishes from Senator Obama once he's elected, but I'm sure we'll see some watery whining and a great deal of fishiness from certain corners of the political landscape.
Anyway, reflecting back to 24 and all that, I'm Jack Bauer, and I approved this message...damnit!
