"That's the third nicest thing I've eaten this week."

Watching The Supersizers Go... is making me feel so much better about my wonky diet, although I should make better efforts to sort that out even if I am including vegetables and fresh fruit when I can. I'm certainly unlikely to be eating fried squirrel a la Darwin, though I admit I wouldn't mind a good old fashioned fish and chip dinner right about now. I've so far watched the Restoration episode, and have the Victorian episode playing now. The common element to both is the amount of boozing -- in the Restoration episode it's beer morning, noon and night, supplemented by wine, while in the Victorian period people seem to have been getting hammered from about 11am on claret and sherry.

I've just started in on Sea Patrol II: The Coup, which sees the crew serving aboard a new HMAS Hammersley and brewing up a conflict with rich git Walser (played by Alan Dale.) Some of the story elements don't really add up, though, and there are places where the improbable overwhelms things.

I've actually put this week's Doctor Who off, and I'm not sure why. I usually do that with an episode or two out of each season.

The summer has come steaming in, and apparently the monsoon is kicking up the south. We do have clouds here, and the humidity is notching up, which has two results -- one is that I'm growing quite uncomfortable and even more lethargic, and the other is that the cooler isn't as effective as it normally is. Before long I'll be found lying miserably in a corner, next to the dog and the cat.
