I need to go out for some stuff soon -- the larder is, frankly, looking quite pitiful. My problem, however, is that I have my teeth into a creative effort, and I really don't want to let go right now...this is how things go with me all too often. I'll mosey along for a week without much of a twitch, and then, boom, I'm working non-stop for two days, until I keel over.
Right now it's the title music for NX-01; after much back and forth and contemplation and so forth, I finally settled on something...I've laid down the brass part, added woodwinds (though I may go back and polish this slightly), and recorded the timpani and bass drum parts. There's more to be added, by degrees, of course -- a couple more percussion elements (mainly Tam-Tam) and strings -- mainly cellos and basses to shore up the rest.
I can't actually say this is fun, either. This is all rather intense, to say the least, and I don't really know where I'd include the idea of "fun" in the process. Given my behavior patterns in regards to composing or writing, I'd say this is really more like an addiction and I'm getting a fix. Scary, eh?
Back to the brass....
