There are many things in this world than are better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. I can vouch for this from personal experience. My left eye is still sore and somewhat uncertain and I've been very uncomfortable on and off all day.

Doubtless I shall have to take up the wearing of eye patches and tricorn hats. Due to the current cost of parrots, though, I shall have to bear with having Ophelia sitting on my shoulder bitching at the world.
