THE TV ALPHABET: B is for Blakes 7

Blakes 7Blakes 7 was in iconic BBC Sci-Fi show from the 70's, which played in NZ during my childhood and was repeated in my teenage years (I recall recording episodes on VHS tapes, and woe betide my siblings if they changed the channel and I somehow missed an episode). As a kid I was into all the Sci-Fi TV I could get (Star Trek, the original ( Read more... )

LOL. When I read through the list of "b" TV shows I knew he would pick this. It wouldn't be my pick but you can't really fault his logic. I have fond memories for B7 but I wouldn't watch it again. However Avon is definitely one of the coolest characters ever and the cliffhanger in case we get another season ending but really this works for the end of series ending is awesome. Probably made better by it actually being the end than it would have been as an end of season.

Aside from some of the excellent shows already mentioned for the "b"'s there are plenty of other standouts as well. I haven't seen Band of Brothers but most people who have seem to rave about it. Blackadder is a classic. People seem to love about Big Bang Theory, which again I haven't seen. Boardwalk Empire was nominated for the TVC this year as was Breaking Bad. Boston Legal is just plain hilarious. The Beat only got one season but man I loved it when it was on. Glad to see Mark Ruffallo has moved on from there to become the Hulk in the new Avengers movie. Black Books, Burn Notice and Buck Rodgers are all B's as well. But then so are Baywatch and Big Brother so it's not all awesome TV.

Jon's top 5 are all pretty memorable shows though.

The Bill! :D

Yeah, B was harder than I thought. I would still have chosen Buffy even though I liked Blake 7 and a number of the other B shows.

I know what my C is going to be.

I've amended my post to include Big Bang theory and Burn Notice after reviewing my DVD collection at home. It's funny that the A and B section of my DVD collection take up about 25% of the shelf space. I kid you not.

Big Bang Theory? Really? Really really? Hmm... there's obviously something I'm missing about that show.

And Band of Brothers I sort of count as a mini-series (at 12 episodes I think). I mean, there was no real intention of taking it to further episodes. I can't limit myself on episodes here, given F is coming up... no prizes for getting my pick for F.

F is also quite good, but FNL should win IMO.

Band of Brothers is still TV. Most Anime is only one season long. I would still count that.

Luckily this one is about my opinion and not yours ;-).

Definitely :) My comment was not about which show you choose; just that BoB counts as a TV series when compared to the other the shows you are choosing.
